My waist is cm, and I sized down to cm but could have gone smaller. I would recommend subtracting 0. So, I opted for the 16 panel version, which gives me 16 x 0. If I were making the 8 panel circle skirt, I would do 8 x 0. But remember, stay stitching the waistline will help prevent it from stretching out! Now you find the line — mine is cm. One to five rows of casings is traditional at the waist. Casing is essentially a tunnel for which to string a cording.
If you sew more than one casing at the waist, you need at least two layers of fabric. Stitch your fabric skirt layers together at ends, right sides together. Turn right side out. This will make a double thickness skirt and allow for multiple casings. Sew casing at waist. Press with iron. Sew one long, straight row of stitching to hold the casing in place.
Insert cording into each casing.
